Yellow Jet Taxi Launches at Seawork
01 Apr 2006
The Yellow Jet Taxi team will also greet visitors inside the exhibition hall on Stand F60 in the Small Business Zone.
The Yellow Jet Taxi, which is a RIB design, will prove popular in harbour and marina areas where it will be capable of transporting maximums of between 10 and 16 passengers at speeds of up to 40 knots. The vessel was designed for the inter-island transportation of guests at Caribbean hotels and can be used in the open sea as well as in lakes, canals and rivers. It can be used safely in close proximity to the shoreline, embankments and other boats.
Power for the Yellow Jet Taxi is supplied by a name synonymous with automotive reliability, which is now active in the maritime world.
The five cylinder Volkswagen Marine TDI 150-5 diesel engine generates 150hp from its 2.5 litre capacity to deliver an impressive power to weight ratio. The power benefit is the result of a variable turbine geometry turbocharger together with air charge intercooling. Its low fuel consumption and minimal emissions ensure that the VW TDI 150-5 easily meets current EU emissions standards and any future standards anticipated for marine engines.
Commenting on the power choice, David Farmer, managing director at Yellow Jet Taxi said, 'The Yellow Jet Taxi is a completely new concept for the commercial marine sector, offering expert design and reliability to the mainstream market. We recognised early in the design of the vessel that engine choice was paramount for maximum reliability and performance. This is why the Volkswagen Marine TDI 150-5 diesel is our engine of choice.'
