JRC has recently introduced two new products, the first of which is the JHS-770 series VHF, replacing the long running JHS-32 model. It comes with several new features. Available as semi-duplex or full duplex, the JHS-770 has a separate transceiver and controller allowing a more flexible installation approach in confined spaces. Built in Class A and Ch 70 watch keeping is standard as is ATIS (for European Inland Waterways) and a direct calling function by way of the AIS information. Other features include a high visibility display and recording function for the last 120 seconds of talking. Clearly noticeable will be the design philosophy of aesthetics and MMI as already seen in the NAVTEX NCR-333 and the new echo sounder which is JRC’s second new product.

The JFE-380/680 is a range of IMO compliant color echo sounders that JRC has introduced to take advantage of the permission to go paperless. With various screen display options it will be suited to any number of operational criteria, with the capability to record to internal memory a period of 24 hours as well as PC connectivity. Options of 50 and 200 KHz will be available together with a dual transducer option for bow and stern installations. The JFE-680 will also include built in thermal printing for installations where a hard copy is still an operational requirement.
