Transflective technology allows the monitor to combine the illumination characteristics of both transmissive and reflective technologies so that it works under any lighting condition, from complete darkness to bright sunlight. The Heliobond technology provides an optically bonded gel layer that lets the technology be IP65 sealed and used outdoors.

Traditionally the use LCD monitors outdoors required the standard backlight to be increased in brightness. This created an increase in power and cost of usage. When enabled in a sealed ‘weather tight’ case the operating temperature increases, resulting in low reliability and thus higher maintenance costs.

Heliobond uses the sun’s power to produce additional brightness without increasing the power requirement, also minimising heat dissipation. The marine grade stainless steel unit has a dual shell, sealed inner core with outer sunshield or visor to prevent overheating of the monitor by the sun. It also benefits from passive cooling for the sealed core unit which eliminates condensation and salt crystal formation.
