The teams, trained by Kobelco in seal replacement, use a specially designed habitat which is light and flexible, and so easy to transport at short notice wherever needed. The flexible mobdock (short for mobile mini-dry dock) is adaptable to all conditions that could arise when dealing with seal replacements.

The mobdocks can be installed within a matter of a few hours after arrival on site and the work then started immediately. Because Hydrex stocks all the materials necessary for any type or size of seal at its Belgian headquarters, this can save significant amounts of time lost in delays waiting for parts.

After completing the training and prototype phases the Hydrex flexible mobdock method has already proven to be fast, efficient and less expensive than existing systems.

Just recently Hydrex mobilized for work in Sri Lanka, has just completed a seal replacement on the cruise vessel Zenith in the West Indies and was about to mobilize to South Africa at the time of writing.

The Zenith required two seals to be replaced with both seal spring and ring being replaced in both cases. On the advice of Kobelco, measurement and inspection plugs were also replaced during the same operation.
