SA Hydro Society Joins IFHS

The Hydrographic Society of South Africa has joined the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS) which has a worldwide individual and institutional membership in over 60 countries and member organisations in Australasia, Benelux, Denmark and the UK.
Its administrative headquarters are in Plymouth UK.
Based in Cape Town, the South African Society's own membership is drawn from all sectors of the domestic hydrographic industry at both individual and company level. It is currently engaged in organisation of a second annual training course for individuals at Cape Peninsula University of Technology's Maritime School with the support of industry and facilities of the South African Navy's Hydrographic Office.
Chairman of the Federation's newest member organisation is Aubrey Price, who said, 'Joining the IFHS will enable us not only to contribute to advancement of global hydrographic practices but also to draw upon the considerable worldwide expertise, resources and authority of its other member organisations.'
