UK Cranes Partnership Lifts Off as Certex Takes on Demag

Lifting products and services supplier Certex UK has been appointed as a main UK distributor for Demag Cranes and Components Ltd. The Demag Cranes group includes Gottwald Port Technology and is a global player in the market for portable port cranes.
Under the UK agreement, Certex will offer a comprehensive range of materials handling components and spares to some 300 Demag customers. Demag continues to supply cranes, hoists, handling technology systems, drives and spares to its key account customers throughout the UK.
In preparation for the appointment, all of the Certex sales team have received full training in the entire Demag range. Demag technical support of Certex is ongoing. The new route to Demag products through Certex is now available and access to Demag equipment for those customers whose accounts are being routed through Certex takes effect this month.
Meanwhile in Germany, Demag Cranes listed last month on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Current shareholders, which include German industrial conglomerate Siemens, raised some $500m which will fund a planned expansion of port activities in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
