New Chief Executive for Northern Lighthouse Board

The Commissioners of Northern Lighthouses have appointed Roger Lockwood CB as chief executive of the Northern Lighthouse Board.

Roger Lockwood, 55, retired from the Royal Navy last year in the rank of Rear Admiral following a 34 year career that saw him serve on five ships, at naval bases, training establishments and in the MoD in Whitehall.

He said, 'The Northern Lighthouse Board has an excellent name and reputation and I am delighted to take up this appointment. This is an exciting time to join the Board, not only with a brand new ship currently being built and due into service later this year, but also as we take forward and implement the findings of the General Lighthouse Authorities Aids to Navigation Review. I very much look forward to being part of the team whose mission is to deliver a reliable, efficient and cost effective Aid to Navigation Service in the waters off Scotland and the Isle of Man for the benefit and safety of all those mariners who might be using them'.
