CEDA Launches Best Paper Award
01 Jul 2006
The award was won by a paper entitled, The Extension of Le Havre Port in the Seine Estuary - Sediment Management on a Large Scale Project'. It was written by Pascal Galichon of Le Havre Port Authority and Luc Hamm of Sogreah Maritime, both from France, and Jan Vandenbroek of Belgium's Dredging International. The three authors won 1,000 in cash and publication of the full paper in Dredging & Port Construction magazine.
The CEDA ESC established the award to stimulate the dissemination of good quality information related to dredging and the environment, including technical, regulatory and managerial aspects of dredging operations and dredged material management. The winning paper describes the global sediment management plan applied in Le Havre's port expansion project.
In announcing the award, Neville Burt said the ESC had selected three papers for consideration in advance of the Congress on the basis of abstracts presented earlier. Committee members present at the Congress then listened to the presentations and were unanimous in selecting the paper presented by Jan Vandenbroek.
