Sea Lord Leaps into Education

A milestone in the history of one of the UK's newest universities occurred late last month when Sir Alan West, former First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, was installed as the first Chancellor of Southampton Solent University. Sir Alan West's appointment reflects the strength of the University's maritime provision, including its Warsash Maritime Centre, which provides education, training, research and consultancy services to the maritime and offshore industries.
