    'Afon Caradog', Britain's Biggest Newbuild

    The Holyhead Towing Company Ltd has taken delivery of its fifth multi-purpose shallow draft tug/work vessel from Hepworth Shipyard Ltd at Paull, on Humberside. Named Afon Caradog, it is the only tug of any size to be built in a British yard this year. 

    'Valiant B' Gives Plantain a Major Boost

    The capability of Falmouth based towage and marine services contractor Plantain UK Ltd has been given a major boost with the delivery of their new twin-screw tug Valiant B.

    Fairmount Marine, with its headquarters in Rotterdam, has taken delivery of the third of their new 200 ton bollard pull long range deepsea tugs. 

    Lerwick Port Authority Gets a Powerful New Tug/Pilot Vessel

    A powerful new tug/pilot vessel for the Lerwick Port Authority arrived at the Shetland port during the first few days of June. The 20m vessel, with a 20 ton bollard pull, is a direct replacement for the existing 18.8m Knab and bears the same name. Like its predecessor, the new addition will work alongside the port's larger tug Kerbister that has been in service in the port since 1990.
