The fenders, which are manufactured at Avon Fabrications in Melksham, Wiltshire, are made of nylon fabric reinforced neoprene and coated with oil resistant hypalon for durability and strength.

They can be quickly and easily inflated using a standard air line or foot pump and can roll up tightly for storage when not in use.

FPV Minna replaced the 30 year old FPV Westra on patrol, mainly in Scottish inshore waters for around 300 days per year, assisting in the conservation of fish stocks and helping to create conditions necessary for a modern sustainable sea fishing industry. As well as the Minna, the SFPA has two Sulisker class FPVs, the Vigilant and Norna and the new, larger FPV Jura.

Around 900 fishing vessels are boarded and inspected by the SFPA fleet annually. Tom Roach, director of Avon Fabrications said, 'We are pleased to have been chosen to supply the SFPA with this equipment for their new vessels. Because of the amount of equipment we carry we wanted a product which is easily stowable and does not take up much space.'
