Mermaid Meets MoD at Seawork

Mermaid Marine Engines returns to Seawork as an exhibitor and also as sponsor of the MoD Boat Users Working Group committee meeting and luncheon. As the UK's leading independent marine engine manufacturer, Mermaid Marine have a long association with commercial boat builders and operators as well as the Armed Forces.

Mermaid Marine engines have been used in a wide variety of military vessels by both UK front line operational units and overseas marine military forces.

This special relationship continues and has diversified with the supply of Steyr Motors' high technology marine diesel engines for the newly commissioned Royal Marines Offshore Raiding Craft (ORC). A version of the Holyhead Marine built craft then undergoing trials was one of the most exciting boats at Seawork 2005.

RNLI 'E Class' lifeboats operating on the River Thames in London are powered by twin Steyr Motors installations driving waterjets. The RNLI also uses Mermaid Marine engines in conventional lifeboats and training vessels, with Mermaid providing spares and service support.

In addition to building engines, Mermaid also distributes a range of engine related products to provide turnkey marine propulsion solutions, including JCB and Steyr engines; PRM, Borg Warner and ZF gearboxes; Mercruiser, Stern Power and Konrad out drives;

Alamarin waterjets, Trelleborg flexible engine mounts, shafts and propellers.

Mermaid Marine work closely with naval architects and boat designers from concept studies through to sea trials on newbuild projects to ensure optimum performance and reliability for complete propulsion solutions.
