New Events Boat on Seawork Pontoon

Over the years, Seawork has become the established venue for variety of marine trade association functions. It is a natural meeting point for such organisations as most members are likely to be attending Seawork in any case. At Seawork 2006, the Association of Diving Contractors, the Commercial Boatbuilders Association, the International Institute of Marine Surveying, and the UK Harbour Masters' Association will all host functions in Conference Room 2 within the main exhibition hall.

Other organisations have conducted their events in an even more nautical environment, on board a vessel moored on the Seawork floating pontoon. The tradition continues for Seawork 2006 but the boat will be different.

This year the British Marine Federation Breakfast Meeting and the National Workboat Association AGM will take place onboard the Blue Funnel Cruises vessel Ashleigh R.

The 19.85m steel built passenger boat was built in Middlesbrough by the Aveco Shipyard and fitted out by Trimline in Southampton.

Ashleigh R was designed by TT Designs for a variety of cruise roles, including corporate parties, scenic day trips, firework cruises and routine ferry operations. Over the last two years Ashleigh R has tendered for American Carriers, served in the Fleet Review on Trafalgar Day, and carried thousands of passengers on disco cruises and dock tours.

The vessel is equipped with a galley which has the flexibility to cook anything from basket meals to three course silver service dinners.

Based on previous experience, Blue Funnel Cruises has equipped Ashleigh R with Scania main engines, gensets from Beta Marine and stern gear from Clements Engineering.
