New Aggregates Zoning Information Available
01 Mar 2006
The British Marine Aggregate Producers Association (BMAPA) and The Crown Estate have released the first set of zoning information for 2006. The seventh update since this initiative commenced, it confirms their guarantee to provide more detailed information on the zoning of marine aggregate licence areas located around the coastline of England and Wales.
Whilst information on zoning arrangements is widely circulated by individual operators, discussions with the fishing industry identified the need for a clear and up to date regional overview. The bi-annual series of charts have been produced to define the current active dredge area for eight separate regions.
On the reverse of each are the associated co-ordinates for each licence area together with contact details for the operating companies.
The new issue of the active dredge area charts (dated 31 January 2006) is available to be downloaded from the websites of both BMAPA (www. bmapa. org) and The Crown Estate (www. thecrownestate. co. uk), and copies will also be distributed via the established dredging liaison committees on the South and East coast. The charts will be updated biannually with the next issue due at the end of July 2006.
