Resinex Deliver Secure Moorings

As the largest single owner operator of LNG tankers in the world, Petronas subsidiary MISC is concerned for the safe and secure mooring of its vessels. Along with another Petronas subsidiary, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Equipment, they needed a mooring point for shuttle tankers to an FSO operated by Talisman Energy in the South Angsi-A oil field.

Requiring exceptional stabilised mooring buoys, the Malaysian companies went all the way to Milan for the product they needed.

The Italian company Resinex designed produced and assembled two 5.8m diameter, 75 ton SRL, and 40 ton net buoyancy mooring buoys which it claims to be the widest and most stable mooring buoy in plastic ever made for the offshore oil market.

These Resinex Catamaran Buoys Type PEM 58 X 2000 provide exceptional stability due to a particular mooring stabilisation system which the company has perfected to guarantee the maintenance of a constant structure even during a 75 ton mooring traction. The buoys were assembled by Resinex technicians last year and immediately installed some 55 miles off Terengganu on the east coast of West Malaysia.
