With the registration in the UK of Antifouling SeaForce 30, Jotun has completed the SeaForce range of TBT-free antifoulings which, based on a new polymeric plasticiser technology (PPT), has been developed specifically to replace Jotun's hydrating antifoulings, delivering better performance at no extra cost.

With its successful TBT-free antifouling 'SeaQuantum' now well established for over a decade, Jotun Paints, with cost effectiveness as the prime objective, introduced the SeaForce range. Further advantages include an optimal combination of TBT-free biocides, a reduced leaching layer for trouble free overcoating, high volume solids, quick drying and a linear polishing rate.

Two SeaForce products are already in use with good effect in the UK. SeaForce 90 offers performance and predictability for up to 60 months, depending upon type of vessel, at a cost well below that of previous market leaders. SeaForce 60 offers 60 months of good performance on selected vessel areas such as boot tops that spend a significant time in ballast and on flat bottoms.

Vertical sides are protected for up to 36 months.

The introduction of SeaForce 30 completes Jotun's antifouling range. Of special interest to the small workboat market where cost is a key consideration, SeaForce 30 is well suited to dry docking at 36 month intervals. Jotun will recommend that all their SeaGuardian antifouling customers upgrade to SeaForce 30.

Another product which will interest workboat operators is Hardtop Flexi, a flexible polyurethane topcoat which has excellent adhesion and impact resistance. It can be used successfully on bare metal, over any twopack primer, and even on slightly rusty surfaces.

It can be applied at temperatures down to -50C, and a newly painted surface will not be damaged by a rain shower. It is effective for hiding imperfections and available in a virtually unlimited range of colours.

Jotamastic Smart Pack has been popular since its introduction last year. It comes in two 5 litre tins with colour coded lids and a one to one mixing ratio to avoid errors.

It has been specially designed for application by brush and roller, with wetting and flowing properties which achieve doubled protection.
