Williams' 25th Breakfast Club Meeting
01 Oct 2006
To mark the occasion past speakers were especially invited to attend the gathering, which was addressed by ABP Southampton Port Director, Doug Morrison.
Company director Colin Williams said that the Breakfast Club was introduced to provide a convivial setting in which 'real people' could come together and enjoy an opportunity to discuss topical issues, while also creating a forum for them to consider the effect those issues may have on their businesses, and more broadly the potential impact on port operations generally.
Since its inception, the Breakfast Club has played host to many influential guest speakers who have not only shared their collective views and experiences down the years, but have also enjoyed the hospitality which accompanies a hearty breakfast, the traditional English variety, diligently and expertly prepared by the staff at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club.
On this occasion, speaker Doug Morrison strongly emphasised the importance of the port to both the local community and the country at large, its value to the national economy, and commented enthusiastically on the legacy that previous generations had bequeathed to those of us who take advantage of the port and all its benefits.
He went on to describe how port activity generates great benefits which percolate through society at almost every level, and that one ambition was to ensure that his legacy would prove to be of equal value to those who succeed him in the future.
