    Propulsion Monitoring Gets Real Time Deal at SMM

    California based real time marine information systems specialist MICAD Marine has announced a partnership with French propulsion systems specialist France Helices to offer vessel operators condition based monitoring on a new high performance surface drive system.

    Trelleborg Industrial AVS, which supplies anti-vibration and shock mounting systems to the global marine market, will be showing its new Cushymount XK on Stand A2040 at SMM 2006. 

    Harmonious Power at SMM

    Renold Hi-Tec Couplings is using SMM 2006 in Hamburg to launch a new range of flexible couplings and rubber anti-vibration engine mountings for marine applications on Stand A3 001. The new VF couplings are designed for use with high speed, flex-mounted diesel engines across a torque range from 5,000 to 18,000Nm. 

    Repower for Poole Harbour Ferry

    Castello, a 9.14m passenger ferry, has been repowered with a Perkins Sabre 92hp diesel engine coupled to a Borg Warner 72C gearbox. The 36 year old boat, which can carry up to 28 passengers, travels at a maximum speed of nine knots as it cruises across Poole Harbour to Brownsea Island between the months of April and October. 

    Big Power Package for Norwegian Ferries by Wartsila

    Wartsila Corporation will provide the main and auxiliary engines for two new high speed Ro-Ro ferries being built at Aker Yards'Rauma facility in Finland for Norwegian operator Color Line AS.
