Modified Wiper Motor Housings at SMM
01 Sep 2006
Hepworth Marine and Wynn Marine are exhibiting on Stand 123 of the British Pavilion in Hall 7 at SMM Hamburg.
Among other new products on the stand, Wynn Marine has modified and launched its popular D Mk 4 window wiper motor housing ahead of schedule and renamed it the D Mk 5.
Changes made for the D Mk 5 include a reduction in the number of parts and sources of supply required. The Mk 5 casting will now be fully produced in the UK, streamlining logistics and reducing lead times. The internal size of the housing is slightly bigger, giving a larger air gap.
The number of lid bolts has been reduced and the drive pulley assembly is now integral to the casting. The cable glands are mounted in the bottom lid, making it more accessible if maintenance is needed. The new housing is exchangeable with all existing systems and the IP rating is IP68.
The changes implemented do not have any effect on existing approvals (DNV, Lloyds, etc) as all other components and parts are identical.
Wynn Marine was planning to introduce the Mk 5 at SMM and start supplying the new system in January but sales volume for the Mk 4 over the past year put pressure on the Mk 5's development schedule and Wynn started supplying the new motor housings in July.
Also on show will be the Hepworth/Wynn 6000 Series Wiper Controllers which, although introduced in 2004, have been enhanced and improved by Hepworth's policy of continuous R& D. Additional features now include different types of wipers with variations in voltage controlled by one system. Modules have more outputs for greater operational flexibility and more than one key panel can be integrated into any operational system. Low voltage wipers (pantograph/pendulum) can be synchronised in low and high speed.
