Unit Enhances Autopilot System
01 Sep 2006
To optimise performance and improve navigation, boats are often equipped with autopilots, special drives and thrusters.
Means to integrate these various technologies are beneficial to vessel operators. One such device is the CT7 interface from Canadian manufacturer ComNav Marine. The compact drive box is designed to connect a number of systems to the ComPilot Admiral and Commander autopilots.
Capable of operating several different types of solenoid valves, the CT7 Interface is a one or two channel isolation amplifier for analogue controls. It provides a total galvanic isolation between the ComPilot system and azimuth/Z-drives. It can also be used as an interface for bow and stern thrusters.
Featuring solid state circuitry, it can accept input from any electric wheel. Measuring 257mm by 184mm by 76mm, the CT7 easily connects to the ComPilot with a ten conductor cable. ComPilot models now include built in software for plugging in the CT7 Interface.
For operators who already have the autopilot system, a cable and software upgrade is available.
