The one hour classroom session on Tuesday 27 March will focus on the towing of undulating vehicles, with a practical emphasis on the deployment and operation of AQUAshuttle, Nu-shuttle and Seasoar towed vehicles. Wednesday the 28^th’s session will examine the Aqualine FerryBox, an autonomous environmental measurement system designed for use on commercial ferries, Thursday the 29^th sees an introduction to the performance and applications of the new FASTtracka II instrument.

FASTtracka II is a novel sensor system that has been developed alongside UK and US government agencies for use in detecting water contamination. With the continuing threat of terrorism, CTG has been testing the advanced Fast Repetition Rate Fluorescence (FRRF) technology in the critical role of environmental monitoring and protection. Well suited for deployment at critical points in water distribution systems, it can detect contamination before and after treatment. Whether pollution is accidental or intentional, an accurate and swift response is vital following notification through an early warning monitoring network also under development by CTG.

Thirty delegates will also have the opportunity to join a two hour at sea demonstration of the Nu-Shuttle towed undulating vehicle from on board the research vessel ‘RV Callista’ in Southampton Water on the morning of 28 March.
