Waterjet Goes Fishing in Norway

Norway’s Grovfjord Mek. Verksted AS has delivered a second 8.85m salmon fish farming workboat to countrymen Nordlaks AS. The two boats will be used for the daily chores of tending salmon and are equipped with small cranes and capstan winches.
Power for the 5.5 ton displacement aluminium planing monohull is supplied by a single 330hp Iveco NEF 370 marine diesel turning 2,800 rpm and driving an UltraJet UJ305 through a ZF220 gearbox. The combination is good for an impressive top speed of 27 knots whilst also promising good fuel economy, low maintenance and a long engine life.
The boat has been fitted with ‘Interceptor’ trim control units which work well even at modest speeds. The operator friendly workboat can be outfitted and equipped for a variety of uses. With a beam of 3m, the hull provides a stable smooth ride and performs in the harshest local conditions.
Grovfjord is based close to Narvik and Harstad in northern Norway. The company builds commercial aluminium monohull boats and catamarans. Currently on offer are two waterjet models based on the same hull design, with plans afoot to add further models to the range.
