CARIS Upgrades Bathymetric Software

Canadian hydrographic software specialists CARIS, who will be staging their 11th annual user group conference in Kuala Lumpur at the beginning of March, have introduced a new version of Bathy DataBase for creation and management of bathymetric surfaces.

Enabling hydrographers to overcome obstacles of large bathymetric data sets and sources, the company says it will allow users to validate, prepare and compile bathymetric data from multiple formats and sources for creation of products. Among principal features are new source data management and storage tools, a subset editor for point editing, redesigned 3D graphics display and navigation tools, and true position contouring.

With ever expanding volumes of raw multibeam survey data and large numbers of archived historical data sources, the company adds, this latest 2.0 version of its Bathy DataBase will provide enhanced management for source bathymetry at optimum densities.
