New Contract
01 Jan 2007
Belgian contractor Jan De Nul has won a 175m Euro contract from the Tourist Investment and Development Board of Abu Dhabi.
The project consists of raising the island of Saadiyat from 2m to 11m above sea level, which will require approximately 35 million m3 of sand. One cutter suction dredger and two trailing suction hopper dredgers will be deployed for the work.
When ready, the triangular island will be used for housing, hotels and commercial centres. Work on the project is to start in February 2007 and is due to be completed in two years.
