Dredging at Falmouth Harbour a Step Nearer

The dredging of Falmouth Harbour in the UK has taken a step forward with Falmouth Harbour Commissioners and A&P Falmouth Limited.
Granting Royal Haskoning a £500,000 contract for a detailed Environmental Impact Assessment into the feasibility of dredging a deeper approach channel to Falmouth Docks and constructing a wharf and cruise reception building.
If successful it will lead to large cruise liners being able to moor at the docks instead of transferring passengers from the bay, a problem which has deterred many operators from coming to the port.
Mike Reynolds, port operations director at Falmouth said, ‘Successful completion of this Environmental Impact Assessment is a vital step for the future of the port.
