With over 100,000 tyres replaced in the UK every day
and the EU Landfill Directive now preventing them going to landfill, the need
to develop end of life uses is acute.
Compression of whole tyres into bales for use by the construction industry reduces the use of primary aggregates such as marine dredged sand and gravel. A newly published British Standard Publicly Available Specification 108 helps the tyre baling industry produce a consistent product and the construction industry to understand its nature and applications.
