Winch Hydraulics Sprcialists at Seawork

Seawork exhibitor Rotec Hydraulics has just completed a high value contract to design and build an electronically controlled hydraulic system to power the winches, and ancillary items on the seismic survey ship ‘Viking Posedion’, which is under build in Norway.

The project incorporated five 200kw and two 90kw electric motors driving Parker PV2 tandem piston pumps producing a total of 2,500 litres per minute at a continuous pressure of 250 bar.

The power unit is being installed now and the pipe installation, currently being fitted, will be connected to feed the winches supplied by Odim. The ship is to be fully completed by the end of December.

Rotec Hydraulics are the Hydraulic Technology Centre in the UK south west for the Parker Hannifin Corporation, the largest manufacturer of hydraulic equipment in the world. Rotec offer a bespoke design and build facility for electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, together with an installation and service facility.
