World Hydrography Day
01 Jun 2007
The world’s leading hydrographic organizations expect to formally mark the second annual UN decreed, International Hydrographic Organization sponsored World Hydrography Day on 21 June with a series of festive events.
US President George W Bush is among those who will officially proclaim the Day while the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton plans to stage a number of nationwide activities, including a celebratory dinner in London with live link-ups to other international agencies.
The theme for this year’s celebrations, which are designed to raise general awareness of the importance of hydrography across the globe, is Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs): An Essential Element of Safety at Sea and Efficient Maritime Operations.
