For those wishing to embark on a career in the Merchant Navy, Clyde Marine Training will be taking applications for cadetships during the exhibition.

Promoting merchant navy careers at Seawork is part of The Clyde Group’s major marketing campaign to attract new talent to the industry. In a recent meeting with Dr Stephen Ladyman MP, UK Minister of State for Transport, The Clyde Group highlighted a notable decrease in the availability of British Ratings due to the ageing of current seafarers and a significant reduction in the number of new Ratings joining the ranks.

Other leading maritime organisations including the RMT, the Chamber of Shipping, and Nautilus UK have also united in efforts to change government policy that would see an introduction of new measures to promote British seafarers’ employment and training.

Clyde Marine Training are exhibiting at several recruitment fairs throughout the year and are hosting career talks in secondary schools to inform young people of rewarding careers in the industry.
