It can accommodate a range of interchangeable work pods between the hulls, allowing a range of tasks to be undertaken by one boat with low ownership costs. The shallow draft vessel is powered by a four stroke outboard engine.

Efficient litter collection is one of its many roles, with floating litter and trash skimmed up between the hulls ready for lifting and tipping into a container without any manual handling. Deck plates can be positioned even whilst in collecting mode to keep unsightly litter concealed and also providing a useful working platform. Additional equipment includes an optional load carrying pod, a weed cutter, and a drop-in oil recovery skimmer.

The Buddy should prove a big success with port, harbour and waterway authorities as well as marina operators both in the UK and abroad who are looking for a safe and stable platform with which to carry loads, inspect buoys, harvest weeds, recover spilled oil, or deliver dive support.

The highly efficient vessel is easy to operate, without hydraulics or other complex systems requiring regular servicing. Handrails, seats and deck plates are all removable for maximum flexibility and an optional trailer makes Buddy road transportable between work sites. Buddy can also be shipped economically in a standard container.

A 7m by 2.3m version of Buddy will be on the floating pontoon at Seawork International 2007, where anyone interested in a trial or demonstration will be welcome at Berth 47.
