Germany Certifies New Zealand Nav Lamps

New Zealand based Hella Marine, which has distributors throughout Europe, has had their NaviLED Pro navigation lamps certified by the German Maritime Authorities (BSH) for boats up to 50m in length.

The 2Nm LED lights now carry official BSH type approval numbers for German inland waterways and the open ocean.

Calling itself ‘fit and forget’ technology, the NaviLED pro line promises maintenance free illumination from compact lamps which have no external fastenings and completely sealed, waterproof, UV and corrosion resistant. The units are pre-wired with 2.5m of cable to speed installation time and feature a mounting system which provides a secure attachment to any vertical surface.

Each lamp uses less than 10% of the energy required to run an incandescent bulb lamp visible from the same distance. Port, starboard and stern lamps draw less than five watts combined, whilst advanced marine optics ensure 100% correct light output and direction. The units are shockproof, impact resistant and completely maintenance free.

Hella Marine’s Multivolt technology ensures consistent illumination and safety across a range of input voltages from 9 to 33 volts DC, even under severe voltage fluctuations and low battery conditions. Reverse polarity, spike and over-voltage protection is also built in.

NaviLED Pro lamps feature a sophisticated self-diagnostic technology. The lights periodically carry out a photometrical self-test, ensuring that light output and visibility are in compliance with official BSH standards.
