The fit and forget system is self contained and does not require power to be provided. It can be supplied built into a structure that can simply be bolted on or provided as separates for integration into an existing structure. Each system is tailored specifically to maximise the visibility of the assets to be protected.

The service has been chosen by an allied Navy for a logistic system, primarily on the basis of its radar reflector package. Tests on defence oriented radar test ranges have shown the Firdell reflector performance to be significantly superior to any other passive device. This exceptional performance, coupled with the navigation aids, is required as the radar signature of the system is low. This may be a good thing in a time of war, but it is not so good in peacetime.

The requirement is a demanding one as part of the deployed system could be in the surf zone. This environment gives rise to phenomena known as Multi –Path Interference, in which radar reflector performance can be significantly degraded. By providing two reflectors as an array with a carefully chosen separation distance, the problem of multi-path returns from the waves and surf is eliminated.

The system offered can be deployed in areas classified as hazardous. The Naval system has the ability to be rapidly erected and dismounted. It can be stowed for long periods without loss of performance on its next deployment.
