Dutch survey and geosciences conglomerate Fugro is to harness its worldwide expertise with establishment of a Global GeoConsulting Service operating in three main geographical areas, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US. The company says it will provide specialised consultancy in each region and operate via existing offices of its Geotechnical and Survey Divisions.

If Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) are to become mandatory aboard ships, the number of groundings is likely to be reduced by a third, according to a study commissioned by classification authority Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
