VTMS Has Wreck Marking Success

Barwell UK based Vessel Traffic Management Systems Ltd (V.T.M.S), Barwell, UK, has completed a successful operation to mark a partially sunk wreck just off the coast of Gibraltar.

The ‘New Flame’ was partially sunk following a collision with the ‘Torm Gertrude’ and has since been aground on Los Picos reef, just off Europa Point in Gibraltar.

V.T.M.S was asked to mark the wreck by the Gibraltar Chief Executive/Harbour Master, Captain Cliff Brand. The company mobilised, prepared and transported four cardinal buoys from their manufacturing base in Leicestershire by low-loader to Gibraltar. The operation was completed in just under a week and the buoys will remain in position as long as is required.

In addition to their wreck response service, V.T.M.S. designs and manufactures a range of elastomer buoys and steel beacons. They also specialise in the service and maintenance of customer’s own aids to navigation.
