  • Journal of Marine Aggregate Research Launched

    A 250 page journal summarising the findings of over £9m of research related to marine aggregate dredging has been launched by the Marine Environment Protection Fund (MEPF) in the UK. 

  • Dredger Delivers Vroom with a View

    Italian dredger builder Italdraghe SpA delivered and launched a new, small SGT150C model cutter suction dredger for the beautiful coastal town of Casal Velino in Southern Italy in July. Casal Velino is within the protected Cilento National Park.  

    Dredging Restores Depth at Island Harbour

    Jenkins Marine Ltd and Land & Water Services have been working together on a  challenging project to dredge the Island Harbour Marina in the Isle of Wight. The works, which started in April, are due for completion by the end of this month, by which time some 23,000m3 of dredged material will have been removed and disposed of.  

    Dredgers Delight Community at Newbiggin Bay

    A lowering of the seabed beneath Newbiggin Bay UK is believed to have exposed the coastline to serious erosion in recent years. The beach had virtually disappeared and damage to the seawall was increasing.   

    Sensor Packages for Seven New Dredgers

    The Dutch specialist manufacturer of underwater equipment, Seatools, has signed a contract with Belgium’s Jan De Nul Group to supply the underwater sensors for monitoring the dredging process on board four hopper dredgers and three cutter suction dredgers currently under construction. The order is worth €500,000.  

    Dredgers Commended for Mammoth Discovery

    The British Marine Aggregate Producers Association (BMAPA) has made special commendations for three sites operated by its member companies following their contributions to the advancement of marine archaeology and the understanding of our past. 

    IHC Launches ‘Abul’ for Karachi Port

    IHC Holland Merwede has launched the 6,000m3 capacity trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Abul’ for Karachi Port Trust of Pakistan. Commissioning works continue in the Netherlands, with formal delivery scheduled for January 2008.
