The event, supported by the UK Department for Transport (DfT), will take place on 26 February at the Mayfair Conference Centre in London.

The DfT expects an average annual growth rate in shipping of 3 to 4% and is undertaking a Ports Policy Review which is intended to clarify the Government's role and address the key challenges facing he sector, including the issue of inland infrastructure, the provision of new capacity, planning changes, financial forecasts and ports funding, and environmental issues.

Issues to be discussed across four conference sections include the significance of ports to the global economy, constraints on capacity, reducing emissions at ports, congestion and inland connections, the role and powers of the Marine Management Organisation, clarifying decisions under the Habitats Directive, the implications of structural changes to port ownership, the impact of European Ports Policy on the UK, and the new guidance on Trust Ports.

Included in the conference fee is a summary emailed to delegates (upon request) the following day and PowerPoint slides on a CD-ROM within a week of the conference.
