Big Order for Taken Over TSs
14 Feb 2008
Swiss based Allseas Group, a major global offshore pipelaying and subsea construction company, has ordered four TSS 440 pipetrackers for installation on its new Schilling ROVs together with Reson dual head SeaBat 7125 multibeam sounders.
A 440 system is typically mounted on an ROV and uses pulse induction technology in conjunction with an advanced algorithm for detecting targets. Over 100 systems have been sold worldwide since their introduction in 2003.
Meanwhile, Watford UK based TSS International and its parent organisation, S G Brown, have just been acquired for £29m by Teledyne Ltd, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc of California. The US company's president, Robert Mehrabian, said the purchase will further expand its growing marine instrumentation operations for both civil and military applications.
TSS, which specialises in manufacturing inertial sensing, gyrocompass as well as subsea pipe and cable detection systems, will now be known as Teledyne TSS Ltd.
