The MCA Sea Rover is 6.4m in length and is being deployed on general support in pollution control situations, such as the installation of booms in an oil spill, and in the Agency's training programmes. These are conducted with the assistance of MCA contractors Williams Shipping of Southampton and are attended by managers and staff from the emergency services, local authorities and government organisations responsible for pollution control.

The craft has a number of special features including slip resistant aluminium cladding to sections of the tubes, permanent fuel tanks bonded into the aft section of the hull and an on board hoist. It is fully equipped for offshore operations with lights, navigational equipment and rafts.

The Suzuki DF50 4-stroke engines are lightweight 815cc, 12 valve, dohc units with electronic fuel injection. They deliver performance across a broad powerband, providing excellent fuel economy with low vibration and noise. Of particular interest to the MCA will be their compliance with future EPA 2006 and CARB 2008 standards.
