Compressor Power for Offshore Clean-up

The UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency has purchased a new skid-mounted Ingersoll-Rand 7/31 Platinum Series portable air compressor to power emergency response equipment used to clean up offshore oil and chemical spills and salvage work on ships in distress. Fitted with a spark arrestor and Chalwyn valve, the new IR compressor is part of the only UK Government owned fleet of cargo transfer and salvage equipment, stored, maintained and deployed by Milford Haven based DV Howells, a spill response, training and consultancy company contracted to the MCA.

DV Howells operates from the Marine Pollution Salvage Centre in Milford Haven, where much of the equipment is pneumatic and requires compressed air.

The new IR compressor joins an older IR model to power air driven winches, emergency lighting systems and up to six individual turbo lamps at any one time.
