Marine Construction Builds Presence at seawork2002
01 Apr 2002
seawork2002 will see a substantial presence of exhibitors from the marine civils sector and the concurrent Forum will feature papers discussing environmental constraints on the industry.
Prominent among the companies exhibiting will be the recently formed Ballast HAM Dredging, Westminster Dredging, Belgian contractors Depret-Roegiers and the US-based supplier of environmentally sound construction materials, Plastic Pilings Inc.
seawork's reputation as a major international event was originally built on the exceptional range of vessels occupying the custom-built marina outside the exhibition hall.
However, with seawork in its fifth year, exhibitors representing the marine construction industries now account for some 20% of the total. Both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Central Dredging Association (CEDA) are consistent seawork supporters, encouraging the involvement of their members and contributing incisive papers to the seawork Forum.
The morning session of the seawork Forum on Wednesday 19 June has been dedicated to Marine Civil Engineering, in association with the ICE, CEDA and PIANC. The session, titled 'Commercial Port Operations:
Appreciating the Environmental Constraints', will be chaired by David Hattersley, a consultant at Charles Brand Ltd. Capacity attendances are expected for papers which are scheduled as follows:
