New Voith Tractors for the French Navy

The first of two powerful Voith Schneider propelled tractor tugs is currently nearing completion for the French Navy at the Socarenam shipyard in Boulogne. Esterel, and sistership Luberon, are due for delivery later in the year and will be used to handle the aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle at the Toulon naval base. 

International Tug and Salvage Event Set to Break Records

ITS 2002, the seventeenth International Tug & Salvage Convention and Exhibition, takes place in Bilbao, Spain from 13-17th May - a natural location bearing in mind the current strength of the host country's tug building market. 

'Supertug' for Charter

The 40,000ihp 'Supertug' Fotiy Krylov has been offered for charter. Brokers Marcon International, Inc of Coupeville, WA, USA have been authorised by the Russian Navy to offer for long-term commercial bareboat charter the twin screw, ocean fire fighting salvage tugs Fotiy Krylov and the smaller SB-408. 

Volvo Penta Supply Engines for New Russian Tugs

Volvo Penta has signed an important order to supply engines for a series of new tugs for the Ukraine, in a deal involving the delivery of 15 diesel engines for three sister vessels to be built in 2002.
