Gottwald Going to Jamaica

German crane manufacturer Demag Mobile Cranes GmbH has won a contract to deliver a 100 tonne HMK 300 E mobile harbour crane to Kingston Wharves Ltd of Kingston, Jamaica. The crane was shipped from Dusseldorf in June and is scheduled to begin commercial operation in Kingston this month.

This Gottwald HMK 300 E crane in the Brazilian port of Sao Francisco do Sul is of the same type as the one becoming operational this month in Kingston, Jamaica.

Kingston Wharves' HMK 300 E is the first unit of its type in the Caribbean, where substantial growth in container transhipment operations have created demand for its ability to handle any fully laden 40 ft box in an operating window which extends 13 rows across a vessel and five rows lengthways without any need to re-position the crane in relation to the ship.

The HMK 300 E is equipped with a telediagnostic system that transmits all crane status data via a LAN radio connection to the operator's office.
