    WesternGeco, which claims to be the world's largest seismic company, is currently using its Q-Marine single-sensor seismic acquisition and processing system aboard its vessel, GECO Topaz, for 3D surveys of the Buzzard Field in the North Sea.

    The London-based Association of Marine Scientific Industries (AMSI) plans to commission a survey of market trends for hydrographic and oceanographic products and services as the basis of a detailed report which will be available free to all members.

    Preparations for this year's final major international hydrographic conference in Kiel from 8-10 October are now well advanced according to the German Hydrographic Society, which is organising the event in association with The Hydrographic Society and the patronage of the Schleswig-Holstein State Government. 

    Shom Orders Velocity Probes

    Petersfield-based Ocean Scientific International has supplied the French Naval Hydrographic & Oceanographic Service (SHOM) with two sound velocity probes designed by Applied Microsystems of Canada as part of its smart sensor range of high-precision systems.
