Hydro 2002

Preparations for this year's final major international hydrographic conference in Kiel from 8-10 October are now well advanced according to the German Hydrographic Society, which is organising the event in association with The Hydrographic Society and the patronage of the Schleswig-Holstein State Government.

Well over 300 delegates and some 50 exhibitors are expected to participate in the three-day proceedings which will feature a wide range of topics under the theme, Sounding the Future.

Co-sponsors of the event are the Canadian Hydrographic Service, FIG Commission 4, IALA, the GMT Society for Marine Technology, the Geomar Research Centre for Marine Geoscience, and the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar & Marine Research.

Over 40 papers are scheduled to be presented by speakers from Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, UK and the US.

They form part of eight main conference sessions dealing with Bio and Geochemical Monitoring, Coastal Zone Management, ECDIS, Hydrographic Surveying, Marine Mapping, Navigation & Positioning, Quality Management, and Sensing of Marine Processes.
