DOF gets Myklebust's first diesel-electric newbuilding

The yard, now part of the Kleven Maritime Group, built the 3,252 gt, 1339 nt ship on a proven MT6000 design from Marin Teknikk against a long-term charter from Shell UK out of Aberdeen.
The DOF fleet of seven DP vessels is described as one of the youngest and most modern on the market and is diversified. It also includes platform supply, offshore anchor handling tug supply, survey/support and cable laying tonnage.
The Bergen registered Skandi Rona is 83.85m loa, 76.8 lbp, and her moulded breadth is 19.7m. Height to main deck midships is 7.45m and shelter deck height is 10.45m.
She is driven by 4 x Wartsila main engines, Type 9L20, each of 1530 kW, developing a service speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.
A 430 kva unit of 1800 rpm serves as an auxiliary engine and she has four shaft generators of 690v, 1480kW .
Her two Rauma CRP 25 diesel-electric propellers are from Aquamaster and are each of 2200 kW/1200 rpm. The newbuilding also boasts two 883kW bow thrusters, one a tunnel unit from Kamewa and the other an azimuth unit from Aquamaster.
Cargo deck area is given as 912 sq m and the ship has a deck load of about 3,000 tons. Cargo capacities include 14000ft 3of dry bulk and the ship has three Ulstein passive stabilising tanks.
Skandia Rona, which carries a crew of 24, is classified DNV+1A1, SF, EO, DYNPOS, AUT, DK (+), HL (2.5), Class not. Clean.
