Seawork2002 Review

seawork Launches Redbus/Vikoma 'SpillCat'

Redbus Workboats announced the sale of two specially modified workboats at seawork2002 to Vikoma International, the world's largest manufacturer of oil spillage equipment.

The modified Redbus 520 Worboats were utilised by Vikoma as part of a major pollution control package for a European customer.

Isle of Wight based Redbus has formed a partnership with Vikoma in which their craft, incorporating Vikoma pollution control technology and known as the SpillCat, is distributed globally by Vikoma.

With its ability to operate in less than 0.5m of water, the Redbus 520 is ideal for pollution control activities in shallow water. It features a large area of flat, stable deck space and 1.5 tonne payload in a craft which can be folded onto a dedicated trailer and towed legally by road directly to where it is required for use. A patented system locks its two hulls to a central deck section.

The Redbus 520's many other potential uses include structural and harbour maintenance, environmental control, dive boat, harbour taxi, emergency and flood relief.

Since seawork, additional SpillCat sales have been made through Vikoma International to Hungary.
