News Rugged Bearings for Trimaran Concept Ship
01 Feb 2002
Orkot TLM Marine Bearings were specified for rudder and stern shaft bearings on the RV Triton, a 90m long test vessel built in the UK to prove the trimaran concept on a full size ship.
The RV Triton is designed for civilian registration.
The RV Triton is built to DNV High Speed and Light Craft rules to represent the commercial structural equivalent of warship type structures. It is designed for civilian registration and crewing under MSA Class VII service and classification society survey.
The Orkot TLM Marine bearings were selected on the basis of their wear characteristics and dimensional stability in water.
They are known to tolerate edge loading and misalignment even with heavy loads, and are particularly suited to freeze fitting without the danger of shattering.
