    Jan De Nul Orders the World's Largest Deep Dredging Installation

    The Jan de Nul Group of Belgium placed an order with IHC Holland for the design and delivery of equipment for the world's largest deep dredging installation for the trailing suction hopper dredger Vasco da Gama. 

    Thames Dredging Tackles Sand Banks

    The Environment Agency in the UK says an emergency workforce has started tackling some of the sandbanks in the River Thames caused by last winter's exceptional floods. 

    Dredging continues on River Wensum

    The second phase of a three-year winter programme to dredge the River Wensum, near Norwich in the UK, has got underway. The Broads Authority says dredging will continue between Bishop's Bridge and Fye Bridge on winter weekdays to minimise disruption to river traffic. 

    Innovative Design Saves Road From Sea

    Consulting engineers HighPoint Rendel in the UK has revealed details of an innovative project that it has undertaken on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council that will see a well known road on the Isle of Wight - the A3055 or the 'Military Road' protected from erosion by the sea.

    The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) reports that the Federation Internationale des Ingenieurs-Conseils (the International Federation of Consulting Engineers or FIDIC), has produced a new Form of Contract for Dredging and Reclamation Works.

    Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI) Water and Environmental and COWI A/S have been appointed as consultants for the next phase of the project to build the world's longest fixed link, between Qatar and Bahrain in the Middle East.

    Associated British Ports' plans for a new container terminal at Dibden Bay have been dealt a blow after a key Government agency decided that the site should be included in the newly designated New Forest National Park.

    HR Wallingford has been commissioned by Europrogetti and Finanza SpA to provide a regeneration programme for the dunes and the depleted beaches along the coastline between Salerno and Agropoli on the West Coast of Italy.
