Thames Dredging Tackles Sand Banks

The Environment Agency in the UK says an emergency workforce has started tackling some of the sandbanks in the River Thames caused by last winter's exceptional floods.

The Thames was adversely affected in several places, especially in its upper reaches.

The workforce has completed dredging the fairway above and below Benson Lock, at Shillingford and near Abingdon, but the Agency says much work remains to be completed.
