Air Starters for Marine Engines

This month sees the launch of a new range of turbine air starters for diesel and gas engines of 1 to 300 litre capacity from Oldbury UK based IPU Starting.

IPU now have over 40 models of air starter to suit almost any engine manufactured and an ability to build low volume 'specials' to fit engines where previously air starting was not an option.

IPU turbine starters feature a triple stage turbine which enables reduced air consumption to produce the same power and torque. This is especially useful in marine applications where space is at a premium and the air receivers can be reduced in size. All IPU starters are available with a fully pre-engaged Beryllium Copper non-spark drive pinion which fully complies with EN 18341:2000 for use in hazardous areas such as Zone 1 and 2.

The starters are designed to allow orientation of both inlet and exhaust ports through 360º.
